Ronald Leroy Strandlund, of Burnsville, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023. He was 75 years old.
Ronald was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to parents Roy and Jean (Larson) Strandlund. He was confirmed at First Lutheran Church of Columbia Heights. He graduated from Columbia Heights High School in 1966 and earned his BSEE from the University of Minnesota in 1971. Ron met his wife Diane while at the university, and they were married in Minneapolis in 1971. They have lived in Burnsville, MN for 50 years where they raised their son Mark, and daughter Erika.
Ron spent his career designing electrical systems for clinics, hospitals, theaters, libraries, shopping centers and grocery stores throughout the US. He was a founding partner of Engineering Design Associates. He retired at the age of 59 from Planmark of Super Valu. He embraced retirement, and spent much of it at the lake, relaxing and enjoying the view.
Ron shared his favorite things with the younger generations. He learned to hunt and fish from his dad and uncles. He loved to ski and was on the Welch Village Ski Patrol for 35 years. He traveled the US and the world with family and friends.
Ron loved his immediate and extended family and enjoyed telling stories of life with them. He is waiting in heaven for us to join him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, sister Barbara Watkins, brother Robert Strandlund; and father-in-law Clyde Winegar.
He is survived by his wife Diane; son Mark; daughter Erika (Ted) Eichten; grandchildren, Nolan, Emma, and Austin Eichten; brother Rick (Susan); brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee (Barbie) Watkins, Linda Strandlund, Karen (Jim) Damon, and Rebecca (Dan) Hagberg; mother-in-law Lilias Winegar; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 11, 2023 at the Hamilton Funeral Homes – Akkerman Chapel in Mora.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Brunswick.
