Sally Sue Hanson passed away on August 22, 2022, at the Scandia House in Mora. She was 74 years old.
She was born on November 3, 1947, in Mora to Art & Dorothy (Blahauvietz) Schloesser of Henriette, MN. She was the youngest of ten children.
She attended school in Henriette until sixth grade. From junior high until her sophomore year, she attended Pine City High School. She and her parents moved to Mora in 1962. She graduated from Mora High School in 1965.
Sally married Gary Bassett in November 1966 and to this union were two children, Jason, and Scott. Sally and Gary later divorced. Sally worked at various businesses in Mora during this time.
Sally married Frank Steiner in June 1979 and to this union were two children, Lacey, and Shawn. The family had a farm South of Mora for many years until Frank passed away in 1993 and the farm was sold.
Sally then moved closer to town and built a house west of Mora in 1994. Around this time Sally started working at Lakes and Pines Community Action Council. She retired in 2014 after 20 years of service. She enjoyed her job and her coworkers.
Sally made friends easily through work and church with her friendly and kind personality. She seemed to know everyone in town.
Sally’s faith was very important to her. She was a member of the Henriette Community Church for several decades. She was active in many things from teaching Sunday School to helping with vacation Bible School. She was always willing to help when she could. Sally especially loved kids. She was a board member for a Children’s Christian Camp her neighbors ran.
Sally enjoyed music, especially Bluegrass Gospel, and attended concerts in Hinckley, MN as much as she could. She also enjoyed walking and riding bike. She was proud of her big family and enjoyed get togethers with her siblings and extended family members.
Sally was united in marriage to Roger Hanson in June 2016. Two this union two stepdaughters were added, Cari and Cris. She moved to Scandia House Assisted Living in 2020 for Dementia.
Sally is preceded in death by her husbands, Gary Bassett and Frank Steiner; her parents, Art and Dorothy Schloesser; brothers, Harold, Ray, and Donald Schloesser, Rollin and Richard Patterson; and sisters, Helen Lemke and Joan Ammerman.
Sally is survived by husband, Roger and his two daughters, Cari and Cris; children, Jason (Samantha) Bassett, Scott (Shannon) Bassett, Lacey Steiner and Shawn Steiner; brother Jerry (Jane) Schloesser; sister Judy (David)Ammerman; sisters-in-law, Theodora Patterson, Joan Patterson and Beverly Schloesser; many nieces, nephews and friends.
MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the Henriette Free Methodist Church.
