Sheldon E. Ruckle, of Ogilvie, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at his home. He was 84 years old.
Sheldon was born on the family farm in rural Ogilvie on January 19, 1938 to parents Walter and Anna (Hoppe) Ruckle. He attended and graduated from Ogilvie High School.
Sheldon worked a wide variety of jobs throughout his life including painting and decorating, roofing, block laying, trucking, building silos, dairy farming, butcher, and working as a security guard for American Security and the Hinckley Casino.
On April 19, 1995, Sheldon was united in marriage to Sherry DeLage in Mora, Mn. They made their home in Ogilvie. Sheldon loved the farm he spent his entire life living on and enjoyed the tasks that come with farm life. Deer hunting season was his favorite time of year and he loved the camaraderie and visits over coffee he had with his neighbors and friends. Sheldon cherished the friendship he made with his neighbors that became like family to him. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sherry, and 8 siblings.
Sheldon is survived by his daughter Janice Fitzsimmons; sister Lavonne Robinson; special niece Lucille (Chuck) Groesch; brother and sisters-in-law, Richard (Linda) DeLage and Barbara DeLage; his beloved babies, China and Lou; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, loving neighbors, and friends.
Sheldon’s caregivers would like to give a huge thank you to St. Croix Hospice for the kindness and compassion they have shown Sheldon in his final days and helping him to stay on the farm he loved.
