STEVEN RIPKA

Steven Edward Ripka, of Ogilvie, MN passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Welia Health in Mora.  He was 53 years old.

Steven was born on February 2, 1971, to John and Lois (Voss) Ripka in the car on the way to the Mora Hospital.  He attended Ogilvie High School where he played football before graduating in 1989.  After high school, Steve went to work in the construction industry, working as a carpenter, cement and block layers.  In the mid 90’s he joined his dad and brother, raising dairy cattle.  After 20 years of farming, he returned to construction, working for several different companies as an off-road truck driver until his passing. 

Steve loved the outdoors, hunting for deer and pheasant, trap shooting, summer lake fishing and winter ice fishing.  He enjoyed going to meat raffles and playing cribbage with his friends and the yearly family tournament.  His favorite “hobby work” was setting birds at Pheasant’s Ridge and hanging out at the clubhouse with friends and family.  He will be dearly missed.  

Steven was preceded in death by his father John Ripka.

He is survived by his mother Lois; sons, Shawn (Salena), Brandon (Traci), and Andrew; grandchildren, Nivea, Kaydance, Hayden; former spouse Kelly Caswell; brother, Peter (Stacy); sisters, Pamela Snow, Susan (Brad) Radziej, Sharon (Todd) Steffen, and Sheila (Tim) Peterson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 16, 2024 at the St. Kathryn's Catholic Church with Father Timothy Gapinski officiating.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00 pm on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at St. Kathryn's Catholic Church and again 1 hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Inurnment will be held at St. Kathryn's Catholic Cemetery.

A luncheon will be held following the graveside service at Pheasant's Ridge game farm.
