VIVIAN ERICSON

Vivian L. Ericson, of Mora, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Vita Care Living in Ogilvie.  She was 98 years old.

Vivian was born on January 31, 1926, the only child of William and Selma (Westin) Groff.   She attended Mora School until the 8th grade then Braham High School, graduating in 1943.  After high school, Vivian began working at the Navy Ammunitions Depot in Hastings, Nebraska. 

She was united in marriage to Vernon A. Ericson on January 31, 1946, in Rapid City, South Dakota.  They made their home in Mora and were blessed with five children.  Vivian spent her 25-year career working as a cook at the Kanabec County Allina Hospital.

Vivian was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Mora American Legion Auxiliary for 71 years.  She volunteered many hours at One More Time and Meals on Wheels over the years.  She enjoyed bowling, the 500 Club, watching Twins baseball, and tending to her flower gardens.  Vivian enjoyed trips to Alaska and Germany but going to the cabin up north was always extra special and her hope is that the family can continue to enjoy it for years to come.  Her greatest loves were her family and attending the events of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She will be dearly missed.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernon; infant daughters, Vicki Lynn and Sally Ann; and daughter in law Joan Ericson.

She is survived by her children, Vance, Virgil (Sue), Steve (Laurie), Danny, and Connie (Rocky) Thomas; former daughter-in-law Rose (Fred) Drake; grandchildren, Kim (Matt) Pitz, Brian Ericson, John (Sarah) Ericson, Brandon Ericson, Chad (Shelly) Ericson, Nick Ericson, Cassie Ericson, Lindsay Ericson, Kelsey Ericson, Jami (David) Baker, Adam (Emily) Thomas, Cristy (Rob) Johnson; 23 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mora. 

A Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. 

A Luncheon will follow the service. 

Interment will be in the Oakwood cemetery in Mora.
