WILLIAM WERNER Obituary

Wiliam “Bill” George Werner, of Braham, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Countryside Living near Grasston.  He was 88 years old.

Bill was the oldest of 7 kids, raised on a farm near Welcome, Minnesota. He joined the US Army when he was 18 and spent several years in Germany. He met his 1st wife, Lisa, while there and they were the parents of 2 sons, Butch and Benny and 1 daughter Patty. After leaving the Army, they lived in Minneapolis for many years where Bill was self-employed as a carpet layer. He was a hard worker and had many repeat customers over the years. He and Lisa divorced after the kids were grown.

Bill met Judy Malenke and they were married in 1978. They moved to rural Braham and built a home. They loved it there; they planted many beds of perennials flowers including Judy's beloved lilies. Judy died in 2018 and Bill missed her terribly.

Bill loved deer hunting and fishing. For many years, he and his brothers went on a yearly fishing trip to Canada where the walleye and northern would practically jump into the boat. Many fine fishing stories originated there! He loved a good meal; roast turkey with all the trimmings and roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy were favorites of his.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents George and Pearl (Juhl) Werner, wife Judith Malenke, son Butch, stepson Steve, sister Bonnie Osterdyk, and brother Barry Werner.

He is survived by his two children, Benny Werner and Patty Magaard; stepchildren, Pam McClellan, John Malenke, and Ken Malenke; brothers, Bob (Pat) Werner, Byron (Donna) Werner, Jim (Ila) Werner, and Jerry (Julie) Werner; and many other relatives and friends.
